Position Title: ConnectEd Coordinator
Job Description

Program Summary
World Education, Inc. and Alcatel-Lucent, through its Alcatel-Lucent Foundation, have forged a partnership to implement ConnectEd, a US$6 million global initiative to provide educational and digital skills training opportunities for children and adolescents in disadvantaged areas across six countries. This initiative will serve approximately 9,000 young people from disadvantaged communities over three years.
Some 70 percent of these young people will be girls and young women. The program started in April 2011. From Year Two (starting April 1 2012) implementing countries will be Australia, Brazil, China, Egypt, India and Indonesia.

Indonesia is a new country for the ConnectEd program and as yet, an implementing partner NGO has not yet been chosen. It is envisaged that the partner will be chosen and activities will commence by July 2012 at the latest with an April 1, 2012 start date likely. World Education Indonesia will oversee all ConnectEd activities in country and will report directly to World Education’s ConnectEd Director. The
engagement of Alcatel-Lucent employees in implementing the program is a crucial element of ConnectEd globally and will similarly be a major focus of the program in Indonesia.

Position Summary
The ConnectEd Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing all aspects related to the ConnectEd program in Indonesia. She/he will ensure that the program design is in alignment with the Alcatel-Lucent
Foundation’s requirements; that an appropriate NGO is selected; and, that it is adequately supported and overseen throughout the life of the program. She/he is responsible for ensuring that implementation
meets its targets and is of a high quality, that the work plan is carried out in a timely manner, that Alcatel-Lucent employees are actively involved in program implementation through volunteering, the
program maintains high visibility and that budgetary and financial management is appropriately carried out. She/he will be expected to report to and coordinate with the ConnectEd central team in World
Education’s headquarters’ office in Boston, MA, USA. She/he is expected to develop and maintain a close working relationship with the Alcatel-Lucent Indonesia office to ensure their full engagement in the
program.

Duties and Responsibilities

Work closely with supervisors and World Education’s central ConnectEd team to:
• Identify most suitable partner NGO
• Design program that is in line with ConnectEd focus areas and requirements
• Establish a sub-grant agreement with the selected partner that lays out expected deliverables, outcomes, work-plan and time frame, budget, and compliance requirements.
• Develop a detailed monitoring and evaluation plan for the program
• Establish a relationship with the key contact person from Alcatel-Lucent Indonesia, and work with this person to develop a catalog of volunteering opportunities in ConnectEd for Alcatel-Lucent employees

Throughout the life of the program:
• Provide oversight to ensure the effective implementation of activities by the NGO partner to achieve stated goals and objectives, within budget parameters and according to the timebound work plan.
• Make regular site visits to monitor implementation of activities by NGO partner
• Continue to coordinate closely with the Alcatel-Lucent contact person and assist in carrying out Alcatel-Lucent volunteer recruitment, planning activities, ensuring they are carried out,
tracking volunteer activities, publicizing events that have occurred and responding to any issues relating to employee engagement in a timely manner
• Ensure the partner NGO is collecting required monitoring and evaluation data and that it is of good quality
• Provide reports to the central ConnectEd team as requested (both through a reporting matrix template that will be provided, as well through regular email updates as directed, and scheduled twice-monthly
phone calls with the ConnectEd central team)
• Represent the program to donors, authorities, local partners, and other stakeholders.
• Foster relationships with local authorities and other stakeholders to ensure program buy-in.

Qualifications and Requirements:
• Be fluent in written and spoken English. (This is crucial to success in the position).
• Hold a university degree.
• Have a minimum of 7 years experience with 3 - 5 years experience in project coordination, project management, or communications/ public relations in the non profit sector.
• Excellent communication skills – report writing, networking – and computer skills.
• Have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Possess a strong attention to detail, good organizational and coordination skills.
