SERASI Vacancy: Program Assistant

SERASI is a USAID funded project that supports Indonesia continuing evolution into a peaceful, justice and democratic nation with respect for pluralism and protection of human rights for all citizens, accomplished through rapid and flexible programmatic, administrative and logistical support for USAIDâstrategic grants and technical assistance program in the areas of democracy and governance, health, and education. In the coming year SERASI will significantly expand it focus in Eastern Indonesia and seeks qualified individuals to fill the following position:

PROGRAM ASSISTANT, Jakarta Based (Code: PA-JKT)


General Description of Role: 
The Program Assistant is responsible for providing administrative and programmatic support for SERASI Jakarta, primarily to the COP, DCOP and Director of Operations. In addition, the Program Assistant will work closely with the Jakarta Grants Manager to provide administrative support in grants
administration.
 
Responsibilities:
1.     Provide administrative services for SERASI Key Personnel/Managemen t by handling visitors, arranging appointments and meetings as needed, incoming calls and making outgoing calls in a professional and courteous manner.
2.     Provide administrative support to Program Officers and Grant Officers in Jakarta, spot checking grant files, processing paperwork within the Jakarta office, and maintaining grantee contact information.
3.     Work closely with the Jakarta Grants Manager in ensuring grants closeouts are conducted in line with the Grants Closeout Procedure and other relevant manuals.
4.     Maintain calendars, travel, and logistics for SERASI Management.
5.     Secure necessary clearances for expatriate staff travel to Papua as required.
6.     Monitor and track the status, issuance, and renewals of the proper and valid visa, police ID card and work permit for International staff.
 

Required Qualifications: 
-          Minimum diploma degree in relevant field (relevant experience may substitute the degree). 
-          Minimum 3 years experience working in a similar position in an NGO or an International organization.
-          Working knowledge of English, both written and spoken.  
-          Able to communicate fluently and effectively both verbally and in writing. 
-          Excellent interpersonal skills
-          Maintain positive working relationships with others both internally and externally.
-          Work cooperatively and effectively within others, and able to undertake self-directed tasks when necessary.
-          Excellent time management skills, have capacity to prioritize by assessing situations to determine urgency.

Parliamentary Specialist

Chemonics seeks a parliamentary specialist for an anticipated five-year,
USAID-funded project aimed at increasing the effectiveness of representative
groups and institutions in Indonesia. We are looking for individuals who have a
passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Qualifications:

* Advanced degree in a relevant field.
* Minimum 8 years experience working on governance/policy reform programs or
processes including at least 4 years working with or in a parliament.

* Experience in program activity, design, development, and implementation
* Demonstrated ability to operate prudently, effectively and diplomatically in
a highly political environment.

* Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
* Effective communication skills
* Familiarity with Indonesian or Asian parliaments and politics highly

Vacancy for National Program Officer

IFES Indonesia - Vacancy Announcement
Position Title: National Program Officer

International NGO seeks a national Program Officer. The primary responsibilities will be to assist the Senior Program Manager with the daily operation and implementation of IFES projects in Indonesia. The position is Jakarta based and full time. Anticipated start is between 10 March and 1 April 2011.
IFES is an international, nonprofit organization that supports the building of democratic societies. IFES promotes democratic stability by providing technical assistance and applying field-based research to the electoral cycle in countries around the world to enhance citizen participation and strengthen civil societies, governance and transparency. Founded in 1987 as a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization, IFES has developed and implemented comprehensive, collaborative democracy solutions in more than 120 countries.
IFES Indonesia currently receives USAID and AusAID funding to support the strengthening of the electoral environment in Indonesia. The program provides assistance to stakeholders such as the KPU and national civic society organizations. The program has one international and ten national professional staff and is situated in the business district on Jl. Sudirman.
Responsibilities include:


Provide IFES Indonesia and partner organizations with advice on the full range of technical and operational issues related to elections - including voter registration, voting and counting processes, election logistics, etc.
Proactively seek out ways to assist electoral partner organizations in all areas related to the conduct of elections;
Undertake assessments, research and write reports on issues related to the conduct of elections, based on IFES experience and/or international best practice;
Liaise closely with members and officials of Indonesia̢۪s electoral institutions and support ongoing working relationships;
Coordinate the planning, administration and logistics for special events undertaken by IFES in the area of election management trainings, workshops or other events;
Assist with the translation of technical documents from Bahasa Indonesia to English (and vice versa) in standard electoral wording, as required;
Report regularly on project activities to the Senior Program Manager and the Country Director;
Undertake other duties as requested/directed from time to time;
Travel as required.

Applicants should have:


At least 7 years or comparable of experience of working in international environment, ideally with significant experience in implementing democratic development projects and international program management.
Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia, both written and oral.
A high level of self-motivation and ability to work autonomously within a fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical skills.
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and ability to make independent decisions.
A degree in political science or related field.
